FAQs

Your Questions, Answered.

Who are your experts? Are they consumers?

They’re informed consumers: retail buyers, investors, brand founders and operators who know your category too well to qualify for a typical consumer panel. They can tell you what consumers can’t, like whether the price will hold, where it belongs on shelf and whether a buyer will take it. Expert feedback doesn’t replace consumer research. It comes first, so you know which questions to put to consumers.

How many experts do I need?

Most studies use 25 to 100 experts. Fifty is a strong starting point, and you can add more once early responses come in. This is qualitative feedback at scale, not a statistical consumer sample, and results from 30 experts and 50 experts look very similar. Tell us the profile you need (roles, region, channel or the kind of user you’re targeting) and we’ll prioritize those experts. Every panel is hand-picked, never a random pull.

What does a study cost?

Surveys start at $1,950 and in-home sampling at $3,100, all-in. Think of it as insurance: for a few thousand dollars, you know what the industry thinks before you commit $50,000 or more to inventory, packaging or a launch. Running more than one study? We’ll price each one and the bundle so you can choose the order.

My product isn’t final. Is it too early?

Usually not. Our experts see prototypes all the time. If you have packaging, a name or a concept, a survey can run now, and sampling can follow once your pilot run is ready. Many brands start with a survey and move to sampling in the same quarter.

Can one study test my whole line?

Each sampling study tests one product, which keeps the data clean. If you have several SKUs, we’ll price each study and the bundle. If you want experts to compare products side by side, Expert Sessions are built for that.

Will competitors see my product, and will I know who answered?

You choose the level of confidentiality. Standard confidentiality lets experts mention the study publicly. Strict confidentiality keeps it under embargo, and we can run it under a neutral name and reveal your brand only at the end. Tell us who to keep out, and they won’t be invited. Responses are anonymous by default, and you’ll see each expert’s role, location and background. About half choose to attach their name and title.

Who ships the samples?

You do, one unit per expert, straight to their door. We send you the address list and a shipping guide, and shipping yourself is what keeps sampling affordable. Refrigerated products go to a regional panel so they arrive fresh, and shelf-stable products ship nationally. Every expert keeps a card on file. If they miss the deadline, they’re charged for the product and shipping, and you’re reimbursed.

How long does it take?

Usually 3 to 5 weeks. Tell us your deadline (a print run, a buyer meeting, a raise) and we’ll plan backward from it. For sampling, the timeline depends on when your product can ship. You’ll also approve the questionnaire before anything goes out.

Can I talk to the experts myself?

Yes. Expert Sessions are recorded one-on-one interviews, sold on their own or as a follow-up to a survey when you want to dig into the “why.”

What do I get at the end?

A results deck with a clear go/no-go recommendation and a readout call with our team. Experts who attach their name give you quotes you can use in your pitch deck or buyer meetings.
